Bandages not working.

Hey guys, just started playing this game today. I know I’m supposed to use bandages when I’m bleeding and the first time I needed to use them they worked, but now they will not activate from the quick slot menu. It seems every time I need to bandage, I have to go directly into my inventory, unequip whatever is in my hand and then equip the bandages from there.
